Spilled Ink Guy (possibly not his real name) over at Refrigerator Magnate is an artist who posts – primarily – images of his artworks with a little of the background. I first discovered him through Peg-o-Leg, when she did her “Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup” series, and have been an avid follower ever since. His use of light & texture in particular make him a site well worth checkin out. but until then…
Hey, Spilled Ink Guy, Let’s Play 20 Questions!
1. What quality do you most admire in others? I’d say honesty, but that might be a lie. Because kindness might trump it.
2. What trait do you most dislike in yourself? Look at me! Look at me! So, introversion. Obviously.
3. If you could come back in your next life as anything, what would it be? Just a dude… just a dude.
4. You’re suddenly made the absolute ruler of your country. What is the first change you make? I’d nominate a better ruler.
5. With which Peanuts character do you most identify? My wife says Charlie Brown. So I’ll go with that.
6. What 3 songs do you think you’ve listened to more than any others in your life? TOUGH question. There are ties, but my iTunes seems to think it’s ‘I got ID’ (Pearl Jam), ‘My Letter’ (Flaw), ‘Medicate’ (Breaking Benjamin) ‘If I Can’t’ (50 Cent) ‘Clocks’ (Coldplay) and ‘Let U Go’ (ATB). Like I said, TOUGH question. It’s probably not country, though.
7. What is your biggest fear? Losing family/friends and not having enough time to finish everything.
8. What would you like the title of your biography to be? Number Two: One Man’s Quest for Near Greatness
9. What movie or book has had the biggest impact on you? Can I change this to painting? Because Edward Hopper’s ‘Nighthawks’ is the first image I remember relating to on a level that made me ‘wish I could do that’.
10. What is your favorite thing about blogging/primary art form? In the blogging sense, getting to meet, learn about and share ‘work’ with different people from all over the globe. In the creative sense it’s more like something I ‘have’ to do. Or I get all twitchy and weird.
11. Least favorite thing about blogging/primary art form? In the blogging sense, not having enough time and/or worrying something I’ve said / done came across differently than intended and it offended someone / hurt their feelings. In the creative sense, not having the opportunity to work on a project makes me all twitchy and weird.
12. Which superpower would you choose if you could: the ability to fly, or to turn invisible at will? Wait? Does your asking me 20 questions mean you can see me right now? Because this cape was guaranteed to work.
13. What is your idea of perfect happiness? I’m kind of a pessimist, so I’m not sure there is such a thing…
14. Which of the 7 Deadly Sins are you most guilty? Coke Gluttony. But, you know, the legal kind, so… that’s… good… right?

They dug him or his honesty; they dug him for his rail-splitting; but mostly, they dug him because he could chug a beer and belch the alphabet.
15. What public figure (past or present) are you just sure you’d be friends with, if you ever met? Abraham Lincoln. The ladies dig him, you know.
16. What public figure would you really like to sit down and give a good talking-to? To explain why they’re wrong, wrong, wrong. Would we really have to sit down and talk? Couldn’t we just have an epic street-brawl instead? See how I completely sidestepped the question? I’m almost as good at that as my opponent is.
17. If you could spend a year in any time and place, when and where would you choose? Man, these questions don’t get any easier, do they? It depends… can I bring A.C. and indoor plumbing along with me?
18. If you could “steal” the creation of any book, album or movie – to just suddenly be the creator of it, what would you choose and why? Probably a Wes Anderson movie… because I’d be pretty happy with my resume.
19. If you could be any TV detective, who would you choose? Somebody who rocks a fedora. Do TV detectives still wear fedoras? Because they should.
20. What would you most like people to say about you after you’re gone? Really? That sucks.

Thanks so much for including me, sir!!! What an honor! This was so much fun (although I’m too nervous to actually re-read all the gibberish I ‘wrote’)! I absolutely LOVE your photos and captions, too of course. Best part of the whole thing. By FAR!
🙂

Thank you for playing along, and giving me a chance to put a picture of Kojak next to Lincoln.
July 5, 2012 at 8:44 am
HA! I do what I can, you know.
July 5, 2012 at 8:47 am
I totally agree with #18. I’d be THRILLED to have any Wes Anderson on my resume…unless we’re talking Darjeeling Limited cos I’m not entirely sure I understood what was supposed to be so awesome about it.

Yeah, he lost his way a little with that one. People seem to like it better than Life Aquatic, which I don’t get, because that one still has real zeal to it. Moonrise Kingdom is supposed to be excellent, though. I’m going to see it tomorrow.
July 5, 2012 at 9:04 am
Life Aquatic is one of my favourites of his. I don’t understand the criticisms, really. Plus, the Seu Jorge soundtrack is fantastic.
I REALLY want to see Moonrise Kingdom, but it’s not playing in my sucky town.

The deconstructing of SIG! It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
I think my favorite answer is for 8. What would you like the title of your biography to be?
Number Two: One Man’s Quest for Near Greatness
SIG – I’m going to have to steal this for the title of my next novel. Hope you don’t mind. 🙂
July 5, 2012 at 10:42 am
Full disclosure, Ms. C… you TOTALLY picked the ONE question I completely stole from my wife! Because I have no shame. So it would be silly of me to complain about you stealing the stolen!
(‘No. 2’ is a nickname that goes way back with me, though… if that makes any difference…)
🙂

Great interview. Thanks for introducing him to me!
July 6, 2012 at 6:27 am
This was so much fun… what a wonderful opportunity!
🙂
July 5, 2012 at 11:02 am
I’m so excited to meet this new dude. Peg-o knows all the cool kids.
July 6, 2012 at 6:25 am
Even if Bo doesn’t know Peg probably does!
🙂
July 5, 2012 at 12:52 pm
Spilled Ink Guy and his art both rule! As does this interview. Kindness vs. honesty is always one of my big questions, too (re: answer #1)! And your line about the cape was hilarious!
I hope you have more interviews lined up, B-Man; I love these. I also love playing “spot the changes to the questions.” BECAUSE I’M AWESOME LIKE THAT.
July 6, 2012 at 6:24 am
Aw, thanks, Jules!
I plug that cape as often as I can… come-on endorsement deal!
*invisible fingers crossed*

Hmm, I do not know of this guy and his ink of spillage. Methinks I must go check him out. Thanks for the peek into his mind, Byronic dude. I am just racking up the new blog interests. Soon, there will be no time for real life work anymore. I think I’m ok with that.
Oh, and fedoras rock. I want that trend to return. Then again, the hipsters would probably claim it and who wants that? Nevermind, then. Carry on . . . .
July 6, 2012 at 6:22 am
In a way I hope Fedoras DON’T come back…
but only because it might be a challenge finding one to fit my misshaped head…
🙂

SIG, you really should run for office. I think you have what it takes. Now where’d he go? He was just here…
July 6, 2012 at 6:20 am
*deactivates invisibility cape*
I like to think I have what it takes to run FROM office…
🙂
July 5, 2012 at 4:06 pm
Kojak..one of my absolute favorite men. I remember watching it with my dad all curled up on the couch. Good memory.
July 6, 2012 at 6:19 am
I had a memory once…
I think.
Maybe.
🙂
July 15, 2012 at 10:28 pm
Oh, for cripes’ sake. You lost it? Again?
Red.
July 5, 2012 at 6:37 pm
Loved the answers and the photo captions
but its disheartning and hard to believe that Spilled ink guy may not be his real name…
July 6, 2012 at 6:18 am
Hahaha…
It’s part of this blogger protection program thing…
😉
July 5, 2012 at 7:56 pm
You know who Flaw is?! Awesome! Now I have to go listen to “Turn the Tables.”
July 6, 2012 at 6:16 am
LOVE Flaw…
‘Through the Eyes’ is still one of my favorite albums…
🙂
July 6, 2012 at 7:29 am
You rock. I’m swinging by your blog momentarily.
July 6, 2012 at 11:10 am
Very cool interview! Thank you
July 6, 2012 at 2:18 pm
Great answers, Spilled Ink Guy! I remember you from the Peg-o-Leg takeover as well! So much here I could relate to — like the twitchy weird thing! I get that too! Except for no reason at all except that I’m twitchy and weird! Wes Anderson is my hero! I named my daughter Margot after The Royal Tenenbaums, though she does have all her fingers! Golly gee whiz! This interview brought out lots of exclamation points in me!
July 7, 2012 at 10:29 am
Lincoln, Hopper, and Kojak. I dig this dude’s choices!
July 12, 2012 at 10:12 am
I’m just getting caught up after a week away, and lookee what we have here – two of my favorite dudes doing the mano-a-mano, really creative dudes thing. SIG, you are crazy talented as an artist, and I really admire your work.
As for that twitchy thing, have you considered cutting down on the caffeine?
July 17, 2012 at 7:26 am
I loved all your answers, but especially number four.
Also, Lincoln was my answer as well, yes…the ladies do dig him!
