These Buttons Are Downright Poetic

May 12, 2012

Humor

Okay, we’re back on track!  It’s time to vote for some finalists, and crown a new Featured Blogger!

After a whole extra week to bask in the glory of your poetry creations, you voted – quite enthusiastically – for Skipping Stones’ meditation on the gentle art of ending a relationship:

This is just to say
I thought about what you said
I understand you need some space
and I’m not angry
anymore
your stuff is on the lawn
the fire is almost out
your mom can’t wait to see you
and your old room is just the way
you left it
*

A lovely sentiment, and a lovely poem.  So, congratulations, Skipping Stones, and I sincerely hope that we’ve never dated, or that if we did that it ended well.  Please be sure to check out Skipping Stones this week!

And this week’s finalists from last Sunday’s question?  You had so many ideas for buttons to include on WordPress I’m surprised we weren’t all hired as consultants.  Alas, we will console ourselves with the knowledge that our blog-hosting site would be AMAZING.

Vote among the following and leave your thoughts, perhaps, on other ways we could improve things.

About The Byronic Man

Recently voted "The Best Humor Site in America That I, Personally, Write," The Byronic Man is sometimes fiction, but sometimes autobiography. And sometimes cultural criticism. Oh, and occasionally reviews. Okay, it's all those different things, but always humorous. Except on the occasions that it's not. Ah, geez. Look, it's a lot of things, okay? You might like it, is the point.

“This post is not one of your best, but I love your stuff so you get a mulligan” is the button I’d add.

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am truly excited to be the Byronic Blogger of the Week. I am deeply humbled, amazingly honored and extremely deserving. I’m a lot of -ly. Being a fledgling Byromaniac, I never expected to achieve such lofty heights so quickly. Clearly, I did not give enough credit to your excellent powers of discernment, nay, your intelligence, sophistication and superior taste. To those of you who voted for my poem, I thank you again and again. To those of you who did not, you are dead to me. But don’t let that stop you from visiting my blog, cause I’d love to see you over there! 🙂

    Sincerely,
    Skipping Stones

Yay! I’m so excited to be in the mix here and indicating I have at least once had this button go through my thought patterns. I can assure all of you bloggers whom I follow that this has never, ever, not even once, crossed my mind when I’m reading your blog.

    (Never.) 😉

I’ll split my vote into fifths and spread it equally among these awesome suggestions. Not sure I’m supposed to do that, but… you know… that kind of fraction work is what I’m bringing to the table.
